Water Means Business Issue 2

WMB2 Screen ShotIn this issue of Water Means Business, the Partnership reviews economic values of the middle Verde River from a 2011 study.

In the Verde Valley, the Verde River contributes greatly to the regional economy. The sectors that rely heavily on the river include recreation and tourism, agriculture, and the wine industry.

Of the total economic activity in the Verde Valley – which is approximately $1 billion to $1.5 billion per year – the Verde River may directly account for up to 16% of that total, with additional contributions for indirect and induced effects. In addition, the river has positive impacts on real estate values and quality of life.
