Tackling Attic Mold

One place in the home where mold can go unnoticed for months, even years, is in the attic. Yet left unchecked it can cause all kinds of havoc. This is primarily because mold is an indicator of another potentially serious problem – excess moisture.

Excess moisture in the attic can be caused by one of several things – poor insulation and/or ventilation, a leaking roof or excessive humidity are just three potential culprits. But how do you go about getting rid of that attic mold for good once you have discovered it?

Once that has been achieved, whether it means patching a leaky roof or upgrading the attic insulation, effective mold removal can begin in earnest.

This may seem like a lot of trouble to go to for a few patches of mold in a space where few in the house ever venture anyway but, by addressing attic mold problems, you are protecting both your home’s structure and your family’s health so it is not a job to be delayed “until it gets really bad” as some homeowners have thought in the past.
